How to send flowers to someone in Pontypridd when you live far away

Flowers for someone in Pontypridd are often ordered by people who live a long way off. A daughter in Bristol sending flowers to her mum for her birthday. A grandson in Canada who cannot be at his nan’s funeral. A friend in London saying congratulations on a new baby. If that is you, here is how to make sure the flowers arrive on the right day, at the right door, with the right words.

Give us the full address, and a phone number

Pontypridd has plenty of streets with similar names, and some houses have a name rather than a number. Give us the full address with the postcode, and if the house is hard to find (a flat above a shop, a lane off the main road, a door round the back) tell us in the notes.

The recipient’s phone number helps more than anything. If nobody answers the door, we can ring and find out whether a neighbour will take them in or when someone will be home. We only use it for the delivery.

Choose the day, not just “as soon as possible”

You pick the delivery day at the basket. If it is for a birthday or an anniversary, choose the day itself. If you are not sure the person will be in, the day before can be safer, and the flowers will still look lovely the next morning.

For a funeral, the flowers usually go to the funeral director or the service rather than a house. Tell us the date and time of the funeral and where it is, and we will make sure the tribute is there in good time. Our funeral flowers page explains more.

Think about the time difference

If you are ordering from abroad, remember that we work on UK time. An order placed in the evening where you are might reach us in the middle of our night. For same-day delivery, order as early in our day as you can, or ring us first.

The card matters more than you think

Every bouquet comes with a card, and there is a box for your message on the bouquet’s page. We write it out for you. A few tips:

  • Say who it is from. It sounds obvious, but cards signed just “love from us” leave people guessing.
  • Keep it short enough to read at a glance. Two or three lines is plenty.
  • Check names and spellings. We write exactly what you type.

If you are stuck for words, simple is best. “Happy birthday Mum, wish I could be there. All my love, Sarah” says more than any verse.

If the occasion is a surprise

Let us know in the notes if the flowers are a surprise, so we do not ring ahead and give the game away.

Ring us if you are unsure

If you want something that is not in the shop, or you are worried about timing, ring the shop. It often takes two minutes to sort out on the phone, and you will know your flowers are in hand.
